Once a candidate completes bachelor degree or graduation in Management can always opt for various managerial positions, become entrepreneur or lead a business concern and last but not the least become CEO by starting from the low level and gradually moving up to the position of boss.It is very attractive as profession that is becoming an entrepreneur or heading a business concern. It is always great to be own boss and do whatever you feel like with all liberty. In typical business organizations, managerial positions range from front-line supervisory positions to the top manager in the firm, the CEO. In-between, there is the middle level of managers, general managers, product and project managers (differ on basis of initiatives and offerings) and a variety of other roles that regardless of the title still hold management positions.

Hierarchy in managerial positions

1. Front-line supervisory roles are entry-level management positions. The supervisor is responsible for guiding a team of people responsible for a particular part of the firm's operations which has to be completed in alignment with company standards and targets. The supervisor is involved in disciplining, coaching, training, hiring and firing activities. The one or more supervisors report to a manager.

2. A functional manager is responsible for a broader range of process, people and business activities. He might have supervisors or first-level managers reporting to him, and is accountable to his boss meet targets and ensure productivity.

3. Senior managers and directors are typically responsible for the overall development of the concern. They are directly accountable to senior executives, often reporting to the vice-president.

4. Vice presidents are the highest ranking individual assigned with a particular function. They are functional experts charged with working with other senior executives.

5. A general manager is accountable to a corporate group or the CEO for all results and resources in a specific line for business of the company. She or he is a mini-CEO, responsible for strategy, structure, talent, key decisions and operating results including costs and revenues.

6. Product managers are good communicators and focused on one or more offerings (products or services) and are charged with working across the organization to bring new products to life and manage the marketing decisions around promotion, pricing, packaging, features and for their offerings.

7. Project managers are responsible for all of the work like dealing with projects. She or he works with a team and tries to create something new.

Key activities of a manager

The focus of the manager varies with team and level organization as described above. The range of activities can broadly be enlisted as follows:

 Hiring and grooming qualified employees for team work.

 Leading the team in key goals and objectives.

 Participating in strategizing and efficiently setting goals.

 Managing costs and budgets for lucrative ventures

Otherwise the graduates have been successful in organizations dealing with industries, including health care, manufacturing, gaming and tourism, financial institutions, utilities, not-for-profit organizations and governmental agencies. Specific positions management graduates have attained sometimes with additional post-graduate degree like:

There are certain openings that recruit graduates only otherwise higher level qualification is requisite in other lucrative and superior vacancies.
