Admission Updates for Foreign National Students



The Film and Television Institute of India, Pune is an autonomous institute affiliated under the government’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting that is inviting the foreign nationals who are either self-sponsored or they are sponsored through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) for admissions to the postgraduate courses with certification in television.
There are 2 seats per stream for the foreign nationals in courses like Direction, Video Editing, Sound Recording and Television Engineering, and Electronic Cinematography. The course duration is for one year for every stream, and a bachelor’s degree is required as a pre-requisite qualification for admission to the postgraduate courses in this institute.

Seat Occupancy Criterion and Interview Process
There are 2 seats reserved for the foreign nationals, out of which 1 seat is for the ICCR sponsored student. Incase, the seat remains vacant, a foreign national student who is self-sponsored is eligible for filling this seat. The eligible foreign national students who qualify for filling these reserved seats will undergo either a Video conference or telephone call medium interview. The interview details will be communicated to them in advance on their registered emails. The ICCR sponsored students who are eligible for admission to postgraduate courses will be selected on the basis of ICCR rules and regulations.

Total Fees Structure in IIFT for Foreign Nationals

●     1,20,000 Rs for Postgraduate certification course in Direction, Electronic Cinematography, Video Editing, Sound recording and Television Engineering like streams.
●    The one-year postgraduate certification in television courses will cost about 7,10,000 Rs for specialization in the streams mentioned above.

IIFT : Important Notice for Foreign Nationals


Admissions of foreign nationals to one-year postgraduate courses in the Film and Television Institute, Pune will be done on the basis of rules and regulations of the ICCR. Candidates are free to contact the academic office FTII through email or telephone medium during working days between 10 am to 5 pm, for any queries related to the Indian education system.
●    The Film and Television Institute prospectus for admissions to postgraduate diploma courses and other certificate courses is available on the official website of the FTII.
●    To get an idea regarding the postgraduate diploma courses offered by the FTII, it is recommended for all the foreign nationals to go through every relevant page of the syllabus for every stream.
●    To secure a reserved seat in IIFT, It is very necessary for foreign nationals to meet a threshold of educational requirements. The foreign degrees must be recognized and verified by the Association of Indian Universities, along with the application form submitted in the registration process.
●    The final list for the selection of students in IIFT through the admission process will be declared during the second week of July.
●    The Postgraduate Diploma course will commence in the month of August.
●    Candidates can apply for admission by either directly filling the application form on the official website of IIFT or they can contact the embassy for obtaining the ICCR scholarship. The Indian High Commission will pass the scholarship application form to the ICCR, which will then forward it to the FTII, Pune.
●    The self-sponsored foreign candidates will be communicated in advance through the email medium regarding the application process and interview after selection.
●    Foreign nationals are informed that the fee structure is six times more for the same course what is being charged by the Indian candidates.
●    Foreign nationals will need to pay the tuition fees of about 4,25,000Rs, and the hostel fees of about 3,00,000Rs including all miscellaneous expenses at one time.
●    The FTII will decide the final list and inter-se merit amongst all the foreign national applicants.
●    Foreign nationals need to submit documents like scanned copies of secondary school and diplomas, and also the credentials certificate on knowledge about the English language, during the online registration process. 

Minimum Requirements from Foreign Nationals

●    All foreign nationals must carry a valid passport that is verified and up to date.
●    Students must either have a student visa or no-objection certification from the ministry of external affairs valid prior to one year from completing the graduation. This copy of the same must be submitted to the IIFT before joining the college.
●    The same rules and regulations will be applicable to all the candidates in the institute premises, irrespective of their origin being domestic or international.
●    Foreign nationals must have a residential permit in India at the time of admission, or a student visa will do for granting permission to study in the country for the prescribed course duration.
●    All the foreign nationals must provide an undertaking to the IIFT stating that if any information regarding admission to the college is found to be omitted or suppressed, their admission will be canceled immediately and the fees submitted will be forfeited. These candidates will not be able to apply for any college in any country in the future too.
●    Candidates who have applied for the IIFT postgraduate diploma courses will not be eligible to apply for any other course simultaneously in the same academic year, even at any other University.
