CBSE Class 12 Marks Requirement Relaxed: Education Minister

The criterion for the board exam has been relaxed this year. The students had to clear JEE MAINS and they have to secure at least 75% marks in the class 12 exam to be eligible. This criterion was removed last year and this year as well, the minister announced. Now the student just needs to pass the board exam and they will be eligible for the JEE MAINS and thereafter the  JEE ADVANCED.

The HRD Minister has declared a relaxation criterion for NITs and centrally funded technical institution's insight of the COVID 19 pandemic, doing away with the need for a minimum of 75% marks in class 12 board exams. JEE MAINS qualified candidates will now only need to obtain a passing certificate in the class 12 exam to be eligible for admission in NITs and IITs.

As per the CBSE attendance rule in the academic year, 75% attendance is compulsory to appear for CBSE 12th board exams with certain exceptions. Because of COVID 19, the academic session 2020-21 has been hampered. Many students were unable to attend online classes due to the unavailability of resources like mobile phones, tablets, laptops or some internet issues. The 15% relaxation is allowed to the students who were unable to attend the online classes due to some technical or due to unavailability of online classes. As per the reports, the relaxation on attendance will be given to students from lockdown to unlock four only (April to September).
