Common Test For Admission To Central Universities From 2021

95% and above and then an admit to a DU college. Has this been your plan?

As of now if we get admitted to any reputed Delhi university college or any other central university, that solely on the basis of how we performed in our class 12th. Your best of four subject percentages decide a college for you.

With the increasing trend of cutoff it also seems impossible sometimes if we will even make it to our dream college. The universities just consider the marks and not the overall student candidature. A lot of eligible and deserving students miss out on their dream colleges just because of this criteria.

But not any more! Under the New Education Policy 2020, approved by the union cabinet, a common admission test is being proposed from the academic year 2021-22 for admissions into various central universities such as University of Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and many more.

This will remove the eligibility criteria of class 12th marks solely and sitting for multiple entrances as per university criteria.

This will allow both a 90% and 60% scorer to take the common exam. The final decision of admission will depend on the university on the basis of combined performance in the common entrance test and class 12th performance.

The overall objective is to increase the eligibility of students applying, free students from the stress and fear of scoring exceptional marks in class 12th, make the whole process of admissions more transparent and fair, making admission into various universities easy.

A seven member committee has been set up to design the High quality aptitude test which will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). The paper will have a general section which will test Quantitative ability, Verbal ability and Logical reasoning and there will be course specific tests on topics such as Science, Humanities, arts, vocational studies.

The students will be able to choose the specific subject test on the basis of their interest. All universities will judge the individual portfolio of students and grant admission as per interest and talent.

The committee will submit their model within a month's time from today and the testing procedure is expected to begin from the batch of 2021-22. It is said that the 2021-22 will get only one attempt to sit for the test but for later years a maximum of two chances will be given to sit for the test.

Things will be more clear as the body comes out with a more conclusive plan. Stay connected with us for more such updates and other information at MY NEXT EXAM
