College Exams in Himachal Pradesh from August 17

SHIMLA: The principals of every degree and Sanskrit colleges of Himachal Pradesh have received instructions from the higher education directorate of the state to make necessary arrangements to conduct the examinations in the colleges with effect from 17th August 2020. Each and every college must systematize the use of thermal scanners in order to check temperatures of the students before allowing them into the examination hall. Also, every college building should be sanitized thoroughly.

Higher Education Director, Amarjeet Kumar Sharma said that the Covid-19 protocols should be strictly followed since the sixth-semester examinations will be conducted in colleges. He confirmed that all buildings and halls, where the examinations will take place, would be completely sanitized to keep check against infections.

He also added that social distancing is definite and should be ensured no matter what. That being said, if there will be room shortage in colleges or some other issue arises, then examinations would be conducted in the nearby government schools. Also, information regarding every student will be collected, i.e. if they are or were in quarantine or whether they were tested Covid-19 positive.

He told that instructions have been provided to spare separate rooms for students who might be suffering a fever or any viral infection; invigilators in these rooms would be deployed with appropriate safety gear of PPE kit.

On Sunday, he did inspections of Una College, where even a meeting was held with principals of colleges in Una district. He assured that the parents need not worry about their children’s safety as the process of examination will be conducted in a safe environment following all protocols against Covid-19 strictly.

The buildings will be sanitized twice a week under the strict supervision of the institution’s head; even the higher authorities will be around the buildings to inspect whether the sanitization work is being done properly. Colleges should also have finger temperature measuring machines if required, besides having thermal scanners.

All the students will be provided hand sanitizers by the colleges; there should be adequate arrangements for washing hands with soap, and social distancing rules must be followed while preparing the sitting plans in the hall for the examination.
