The Directorate General of Training or DGT has recently tied up with Microsoft and NASSCOM. This joint venture will provide digital learning content to the students of the industrial training institutes or ITIs. There are almost 3000 and nearly 1.20 lakh students who will be provided the training under this tie-up.
The digitized e-learning module will definitely benefit India via the Bharatskills portal. Microsoft has also provided free access to the learning contents that are available on the Microsoft platform to almost 24 lakh students. They have linked Global Skilling Initiative (GSI) with the Bharatskills platform for the benefit of the students.
The NASSCOM Foundation has introduced a content course named Operating and Programming Assistant (COPA) and will also conduct faculty development programs. This will help the students to build capacities like the faculties or the trainers in the NSTIs or ITIs.
According to the ministry, this mixed content with self-learning digital tutorials and handholding from teachers will reduce the strain of classroom hours. But the student-teacher engagement and the training of a double number of students will be possible swiftly.
Due to this pandemic, these new transitions of digital learning will also strengthen the young learners for the future. About this new initiative Anant Maheswari, president of Microsoft India said, “The last few months have accelerated the need for upskilling and have shown clearly that the future of learning will be supported by technology. Our partnership with DGT and NASSCOM Foundation is built on this foundation of equipping the learners of today with the skills required to thrive in the jobs of tomorrow.”
Similarly, CISCO has also announced to provide digital skills to students.
