The Delhi book fair is finally here. This is the 28th edition of the New Delhi World Book Fair 2020. HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ inaugurated the fair on 4th January 2020. and the fair will continue till 12th January 2020. This fair is going on in Pragati Maidan. all though like every time the fair consist of books of every genre. and has been organized by the National Book Trust along with the association of ITPO. Kolkata’s oldest book fair is going to held in Delhi. the first fair which was inaugurated by the former President of India, Shri V.V Giri, was held from 18th March to April 4th, 1972. after that National book trust has been organizing this event since 2013. and makes sure to be the most prestigious fairs held in the city. the remark of this book fair is that it is known to celebrate the diversity of books and attract major publishers and authors every year.

New Delhi World Book Fair 2020 Theme
The book fair is celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi this year. Therefore the theme of the book fair is ‘Gandhi: The Writers’ Writer’. The purpose of this theme is to celebrate various aspects and images of Gandhi’s life as a writer, editor, publisher, and journalist.
Along with the theme dedicated to Gandhi, the books there will also symbolize his influence on the growth of Indian literature as well as on the writers all around the world. Book lovers will definitely be going to enjoy the exhibition of 500 books which are there in different languages both written by Mahatma Gandhi or on his life and work.
Events at New Delhi World Book Fair 2020
Like in the past, this year also the World Book Fair will be one of the major attractions. there might be around 600 publishers from India as well as overseas who are going to set up their stalls offering books in a variety of languages and genres. Some of the highly acclaimed writers such as Sudha Murthy, Anirban Ganguly, Madhulika Dutta as well as other writers will also be present at the Delhi Book Fair.
The seminars, book launch events, film screenings and discussions are also scheduled for the book fair. for a special treat to children, book reading sessions, as well as creative writing sessions, are also planned with the purpose to promote reading among children and adults.
