Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has notified that its backlog examination will occur between October 1 and 9, and the regular examinations will take place between October 10 and 30. Since the university did not notify the appropriate dates, students are saddened that the dates might clash with NET exams on October 1, 9, and 17. The SPPU officials consoled the students that there will not be any overlap of examinations. Initially, UGC NET was to be held in June, but because of the COVID -19 pandemic and successive lockdown, the exam was postponed. The hall tickets for exams were to be published on September 29, 30, and October and were downloadable on September 24. Until June 18, the NET examination was conducted by the CBSE in 84 subjects at 91 cities. But Since December 2018, the UGC NET is being conducted by the authorized National Testing Agency.
A student from the final year, pursuing a commerce degree at the university told us that the NET for commerce students is on October 17. The university claimed that they would schedule the final-year papers in the same interval. Since the proper schedule is not provided, they are scared that one of those papers would overlap with the NET exam. All we want is the university to undertake the responsibility that assures no overlapping between the exams. The university must commence the final year paper after the NET exam or cover it before NET. Mr. Mahesh Kakade, the director of examination and evaluation at Savitribai Phule Pune University, confessed that they did not prepare the timetable for the October exam till date. They will be doing so in the upcoming days as they needed the surety of no clashing between the exams. Kakade said that they were aware of the NET dates and will try to acknowledge the dates and session time so that the students would be comfortable giving the respective examinations.
