The new notice from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has made an extension to the Unlock 5.0 guidelines till the 30th of November. This decision directly affects the reopening guidelines of schools, colleges, and other educational institutions. Here are some of the ways in which they are affected.
- As per the guidelines, the state government and union territory governments can make individual decisions on when they want to reopen schools and colleges in the state. The decision must be made in light of the situation with the pandemic, and the reopening must happen in a graded manner for non-containment zones.
- Online learning has become the primary means of education until further guidelines.
- Students can continue online learning without going to school physically, and the school must arrange for this.
- Students are allowed to attend school on a voluntary basis, and only with the written consent of their parents or guardians.
- Attendance should not be enforced, and should rather be dependent on parental consent.
