The UT Education Department will start holding compartment examinations for students that have currently failed the examinations for classes IX and XI. The examinations are going to start after September 21, and the registration process for the same will start on September 7.
During April, the UT education department had decided to award 30 marks as grace for students of classes IX and XI in order to avoid failing anyone during the pandemic. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out as planned and over 4500 students still got put under compartment as they were unable to pass. These exams were earlier supposed to be held in May, but got postponed due to the situation.
During July, the education board gave the students the option to either repeat the class as failed students or to get promoted upon clearing the compartment. This order came after CBSE declared that schools can conduct online tests and decide to promote students on this basis. Since JEE Mains is going to be held for thousands of students with only 5 open centers, conducting compartment exams while maintaining social distancing will not be a difficult task for the department.
