On Thursday, the Central Board of Secondary Education activated a link for interested candidates who want to apply for the improvement or compartment examination. It is very likely that the compartment examinations for class 10th and 12th CBSE will be conducted in September 2020. However, the dates have not been announced. Students, who had taken the examinations earlier in February or March as regular candidates and have been declared as “Compartment”, are eligible to apply.
Candidates can apply for both, class 10th or 12th compartment examination, from 13th August 2020 through the official website of CBSE.
Candidates who wish to appear as private candidates, a separate notice has been published for them, which can be accessed through the official website of CBSE. Schools can direct or suggest the “Private Candidates” to go through the circular and apply directly online when approached by the same.
Only the candidates whose names are submitted into the online process would be allowed to take the examinations which will be conducted in the month of September this year. Submission of LOC for compartment examination is a must for the school, with respect to regular students.
Regular students who took the class 12th examinations in February or March 2020 earlier through affiliated schools and were declared “Compartment” are eligible to apply for only one subject they were placed in the compartment. Likewise, students who took the class 10th examinations are eligible to apply too but they can choose two subjects they were placed in the compartment.
The fee one has to pay for class 10th and 12th compartmental examination is Rs 300 per subject for the schools within India. For schools outside India, this fee is Rs 2,000 per subject. The submission of fees online has been scheduled from 13th August 2020 to 20th August 2020, 5 PM. In case a candidate misses the last date, they will have an extra Rs 2,000 late fee payment within 22nd August 2020, 5 PM.
Candidates of class 12th, who were declared “NC” in the concerned subject improvement examination that was scheduled between 1st July 2020 and 15th July 2020 as regular candidates, can appear the compartmental examination under “Improvement of Performance” category. Also, class 12th students who appeared as regular candidates in 6 subjects in February or March 2020 and were declared “PASS” but had not cleared one subject can appear the examination under the same category.
The dates will soon be announced by the board. Information regarding the date of availability of admit cards will be sent to the schools as well. If any discrepancies are found in admit cards, schools are advised to contact the board’s concerned Regional Office.
