All about LU Entrance Exam B.A. and B.A. (Hons.)

 

Lucknow University was established in 1920, now it has a 219-acre area with 51 departments- 15 UG programs and 67 PG programs courses. 545 colleges and 17 institutions are associated with the University. It has always been in the top 10 NIRF rankings. University offers various programs in many fields from engineering to arts, undergraduates, postgraduates, and PhD programs. The admission is based on the merit marks and the performances of the students in the previous examination and the entrance exams may be followed by personal institutions conducted by the institutions.


B.A undergraduate programs and seats (6 semesters)

Subjects- Hindi (400), English(30), French(320), functional Hindi(80), functional Sanskrit(30), Urdu (80), Sanskrit (80), ancient history (320), Arab culture (89), Arabic (60), Asian culture (160), history (160), mathematics (60), philosophy (80), economics (320), Jyotir Vigyan (30), linguistics (80), Persian, geography, home science, physical education, political, public administration, travel administration, travel and tourism management, sociology, social work.

Choice of subjects- candidates have to select three subjects from the following groups and opt. Only one subject is allowed to choose from one group. The candidates cannot offer more than two literature subjects; candidates opting for statistics have to choose mathematics. 


B.A (Hons) Undergraduate Programs and seats (6 semesters )

 Subjects -Ancient history (60 seats), Economic (60), English (60), Hindi (60), Political science (60), Psychology (40), social work (60), philosophy (60), history (60), public administration (60).

Choice of subjects- there will be a single online form and a common entrance test for B.A and B.A (Honours) programs. B.A (Honours) option will be available as same as B.A at the time of admission.


Eligibility Criteria

B.A: the minimum marks required for the eligibility to apply in the LU for the B.A course is- 40% for the candidates belonging to OBC and unreserved category and 33% for ST/SC candidates in the intermediate or equivalent from a recognized institution.

B.A Hons. : the minimum marks required for the eligibility to apply in the LU for the B.A course is- 60% for the candidates belonging to OBC and unreserved category and 55% for ST/SC candidates in the intermediate or equivalent from a recognized institution.

Exam and pattern for Undergraduate programs

Number of Questions: 90 questions.

Time duration: 90 minutes.

50  MCQs pattern questions in 60 minutes with one negative mark for every wrong answer and marks will be reduced for un-attempted questions.


Syllabus

The syllabus for the entrance marks will include all the subjects included in the intermediate levels for the UP boards, ICSC ,CBSE, and other state boards


Cut-offs

The cut-off varies every year as per the vacancy of respective seats and courses. The last year’s minimum eligibility criteria for the qualifying exam was 65 percentile and the final merit list and will be prepared and the final selection list will be uploaded to websites for the counseling.


Admission guidelines and counseling

The center for the counseling will be Lucknow. Students may apply via online/offline mode for admission. The candidate is advised to visit the official site, sign up for the registration, fill in all the details regarding personal information and educational information with the required scanned documents, after uploading all the documents before submitting the form, the students must click on review and carefully confirm all the entries made.  Application fees can be submitted by credit/debit card or net banking; the students may download the form, for future references. The form is not required to send to the university. The list of required documents:

  • Valid id number
  • Active mobile number
  • Scanned signature
  • Intermediate mark sheet
  • Photo ID proof
  • EWS /or caste certificate
  • Fee- 800 for general and OBC category and 400 for ST/SC category.
  • Income certificate

Placements

Center placement cells are responsible authority for conducting all the recruitment processes. The main motto of the cell is to get the students in the best MNCs and the best available company in the PSU or government sectors. Students are requested to register themselves in the placement cell site for the placements. The cell assists students in counseling, interview, written test, GDs, etc. They help them to opt for whatever is best for their future.

Companies: TCS, Pepsi, coca-cola, ICICI, HDFC, Jaro education, Byju’s, extra marks and many others have visited for the final placement for the final years of recent passed undergraduate/postgraduate students. Even in the time of covid-19, the institution has the record of more than 75% placements with an average of 3 lacs per annum packages and the highest is 24 lacs.


Scholarships

The university has taken the initiatives like Chhatra Kalyan scholarships schemes for the beneficiaries of the students. This will help financially deserving students to pursue their studies without any hurdles.  This scholarship program provides Rs.15000/or actual annual tuition fees semester fee (whichever is less). The number of students selected for the scholarships is decided by the committee by considering all the terms and conditions of eligibility criteria.

The students may visit and submit an online form to apply to the scholarship programs in a prescribed format at the beginning of the new session/semester.
