According to the recent notice released by Medical Council of India (MCI), it has been asked to conduct the MD, MS, PG Diploma examinations for the Final Year PG medical students of all the government and private medical colleges. The decision to this effect was taken considering the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic due to which all the PG Medical admission process for this year had been halted.
Earlier, the official notification regarding the postponement of counseling had been released by MCC on its official website. The updated dates for NEET PG Counseling will be released very soon on the official website nbe.edu.in. Earlier the NEET PG counseling was supposed to begin on March 12, 2020, and was supposed to end on March 23, 2020. The exam was conducted on January 5, 2020, and the result was announced on February 6, 2020.The council has made it clear that the colleges can resume all activities that have been left pending due to the lockdown as soon as the situation allows. The council has also asked the colleges to extend the work period of PG Residents in the college to avoid shortage of hands to deal with the current health situation of the country.
Moreover, in order to ensure that there is no shortage of Residents in handling the COVID-19 Pandemic, the services of these Postgraduate students as Residents may be continued to be utilized until fresh batches of Postgraduate students have joined, the MCI directed the institutes. All Medical Institutions, including Central/State Government or Private Institutions, are also advised to continue:
(a) Availability of accommodation;
(b) Payment of Stipend; to all such Final Year Postgraduate students during this extended period.
Thus, the MCI Board of Governors has advised all the medical colleges (government and private) to conclude these PG exams after the situation gets stable.
