Mumbai University Exams from October 1

The underlying suspense among MU final-year students is now over since their theory examinations are going to be held from the 1st of October and will end on the 17th. The backlog exams are going to be held from the 25th of September and will be held with only MCQ questions.

The decision came in response to the Maharashtra Govt. asking universities in the state for a detailed plan for the examinations of final year students. With the rise in COVID-19 cases, the government expected universities to cancel the exams, however, the UGC guidelines prohibited this.

MU Circular

The MU has issued a notice among its students stating that the exams will be held with small clusters. This means that 6 to 7 colleges will be under one cluster and that they will hold the examinations under a normal schedule.

The examinations are stated to be based on the syllabus topics completed till March 13 2020, and that the theory examinations will be held online. The examinations would have multiple choice questions of 50 marks and the allotted time would be 1 hour.

Colleges will begin the evaluation of the examinations right after the exam has been conducted. The marks of the students would be uploaded on the respective university portal within 2 days of the exam. The backlog examinations will be taken from the 25th of September for students who have not already given backlogs during March.

The mumbai university also stated that online Viva tests will be conducted for students with the help of video calling platforms. These can begin from the 15th of September.

Mock tests will be conducted to ensure that students will be familiar with the examination method before they are conducted. For Divyang students, a writer will be provided along with 20 extra minutes for the examination. Students who cannot appear for the exam for some reason will need to have a discussion with the college regarding the same.
