Tips To Help Students Cope With Uncertainty

With the corona virus taking over the whole world forcing people to stay indoor has brought a lot of changes and uncertainty for everyone. The student community is one of the groups hard hit by the challenges and unforeseen circumstances the virus got with it. Struggling with online classes, delayed internship and extracurricular, virtual graduation, increased screen time, the mental pressure to take up activities and build a profile, constantly thinking about the future, and hard plans have left students juggling, emotionally drained, uncertain, and anxious.

Not just the online pressure but failed attempts, loneliness, social distancing, stress, suicidal thoughts, fear of losing, fear of missing out has taken a toll on a lot of young students. Some students even have worse problems like financial hardships and an unstable environment in their surroundings which does not allow them to express themselves.

What should we do then?

A lot of our problems can be solved by talking. When we have someone around we should take a leap of faith and talk. We never know we might find a solution. But it is not only about the solution when we let our feelings out and express ourselves we are able to start afresh. If we have no one around we can talk to ourselves by Journaling. Journaling helps us to express not to a person but allows us to get free of anxiousness and start fresh.

We are young and full of energy. If you have lost touch with normality then it’s time to get back. We have to make up a routine for ourselves and follow it. If we already know what to do when we wake up then life gets similar, we work, follow the schedule and feel productive. If sometimes we don’t know what to do still we can have a schedule of daily activities like when to sleep, when to eat, time for physical exercise, and mental health. For the rest of the day, we can do anything: read a book, learn a new school, clean our surroundings, feed stray animals, and water plants.

Find hope and ways to deal with uncertainty. Remind yourself constantly that uncertainty does not always lead to bad things. Sometimes the end result is good and unexpected, sometimes you realize late that what happened was for good. Meditate, look for happiness, help someone. You will feel great.
