TS LAWCET 2020 Exam - Dates, Registration, Eligibility, Syllabus, Exam Pattern

Telangana State Law Common Entrance Test 2020 or TS LAWCET 2020 is the entrance examination for admission to LL.B., LL.B. (Hons.), B.A. LL.B. (Integrated) and BBA LL.B. (Integrated). TS LAWCET 2020 is conducted by Osmania University on behalf of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education.

The application forms will be available from 06/03/2020 till 03/07/2020. The exam is in online mode. The duration of the exam will be 90 minutes. It is being conducted in English, Telugu and Urdu languages. The result date will be announced later.

TS LAWCET 2020 Eligibility Criteria

  • 3 Years LL.B. Course

The minimum Academic Qualifications for admission to 3 years LL.B. course are passed any Graduate Degree (10 + 2 + 3 pattern) of a recognized University with at least 45% marks in aggregate for GEN , 42% for OBC Category* and 40% for SC / ST or any other examination recognized as equivalent by the Universities concerned. If any candidate secured less than 45% marks in graduation he should have passed any additional graduation or post - graduation with 45%. 

  • 5 year LL.B. Course :

The minimum Academic Qualifications for admission to 5 years LL.B. course are  passed two year Intermediate Examination (with 10+2 pattern) with 45% marks in aggregate for general category, 42% for OBC Category* and 40% for SC / ST category candidates or any other examination recognized as equivalent by the University concerned or the Board of Intermediate Education, T.S.

* - Pending approval of the State Government.

Note :

  • There is a relaxation of 5% of marks in the above qualifying examinations for 3 and 5 year Law course in favour for the Candidates belonging to SC / ST Category. 
  • The Eligibility criteria are subject to change as per the Government Orders issued from time to time
  • The percentage of 44.5% and above in aggregate in graduation (with 10 + 2 + 3 Pattern) in case of candidates belongs to general categories, 41.5% or above in aggregate in graduation (with 10+2+3 Pattern) in case of candidates belongs to OBC category and 39.5% and above in aggregate in graduation (with 10+2+3 Pattern) in case of candidates belongs to SC / ST category will be considered as 45%, 42% and 40% of aggregate marks respectively for admission into LL.B. 3 year course. 
  • The percentage of 44.5% and above in aggregate in Intermediate (with 10+2 Pattern) in case of candidates belongs to general categories, 41.5% or above in aggregate in Intermediate (with 10+2 Pattern) in case of candidates belongs to OBC category and 39.5% and above in aggregate in Intermediate (with 10+2 Pattern) in case of candidates belongs to SC / ST category will be considered as 45%, 42% and 40% respectively for admission into LL. B 5-year course.

  • A Candidate appearing for the required basic qualifying examinations may also take the TS LAWCET 2020 in anticipation of results. In case of such students, their entry shall be subject to their securing eligible marks in the required basic qualifying examinations.
  • The applicants who have obtained 10+2 or Graduation / Post Graduation through Open Universities system directly without having any basic qualification for prosecuting such studies are not eligible for admission into the law courses.
  • Mere appearance in TS LAWCET 2020 will not give any right of admission. The candidate should satisfy all the eligibility criteria and should satisfy rules for admission.
  • Nationality and Domicile : The candidate should be an Indian National and should satisfy Local / Unreserved status requirement as laid down in the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions 
  • (Regulation of Admissions) Order, 1974 and the amendments made thereto from time to time.

The application fee for TS LAWCET 2020 is Rs. 800/- (Rs. 500/- for SC / ST and PH category candidates).

Students applying for the TS LAWCET 2020 have to fill up the application form on the official site.

Requirements to be readied before you start filling up the Application Form of TS LAWCET 2020

  • PC or a Laptop with Internet connectivity
  • Qualification details
  • Functional e - mail Id as all communication are made through email; Parents email id is recommended.
  • Mobile number as all information is sent through SMS too. Parents phone number can be used.
  • For online payments, you can use TS - AP ONLINE / Credit Card / Net Banking.
  • Printer is required for keeping hard copies; if there is no printer, one can save the printouts, transfer them on to a pen drive and get it printed from a cyber-café.
  • It is recommended to download the information Bulletin Brochure and read it carefully so that you understand various requirements to fill up the form.

On your Internet Browser (preferably Internet Explorer version 6.0 and above) type the official website address, press ENTER button then you will a screen where you can fill the application form.

TS LAWCET 2020 Syllabus

  • Syllabus for TS LAWCET 2020 Exam

The Test is designed to evaluate the candidates ability and aptitude to pursue the study of Law programmes. The Test consists of three parts. Total number of questions will be 120 and the duration of test is 90 minutes. Maximum marks are 120. 

  • Part - A: Consists of 30 questions carrying 30 marks: General Knowledge and Mental Ability. 
  • Part - B: Consists of 30 questions carrying 30 marks: Current Affairs.
  • Part - C: Consists of 60 questions carrying 60 marks: Aptitude for the Study of Law

For 5 year Law Course, the standard expected is of Intermediate level and for 3 year Law Course, the standard expected is of Degree Level.

The questions in Part - C, Aptitude for the study of Law, elementary knowledge of the basic principles of Law and Constitution of India, on the Part of the Student is assumed. The Questions will be objective type including multiple choices questions. Each question contains four alternative answers.

TS LAWCET 2020 Exam Day Instructions

Examination Day Instructions

Before entering the Exam Centre 

  • Try to reach the exam centre one hour prior to the time advised in the admit card.
  • Before leaving for the site, please have a hearty breakfast or light lunch depending on the session. Drink plenty of fluids; as in summers dehydration can set in affecting your performance in the exam.
  • Have a cookie or a chocolate just before entering the centre; this prevents hypoglycaemia and thus helps you stay alert longer improving your results.
  • If it is a busy centre, then don’t wait till last for the entry and security check.
  • Centre will not allow you to enter after the commencement of examination.
  • Admission to the Exam Centre is with the Admit Card; no candidates shall be admitted to the test without the production of the Admit Card at the Test Centre.
  • Usually no bags are allowed.
  • No eatables are allowed.
  • No communication equipment such as mobile phones / pager/ wireless set, scanner, camera or any such electronic / digital gadget etc are allowed in the exam centre; carrying one will lead to disqualification.

After Entering the centre

  • In no case, a candidate is allowed to enter the examination hall after the exam starts.
  • No candidate shall be allowed to leave the examination hall till the completion of the Examination.
  • Candidates are not allowed to talk to each other during the examination.
  • Smoking is a not allowed.
  • Misbehaviour of any kind can lead to expulsion of the candidate.

  • The mode of availability of the admit card is online.
  • Admit Card can be downloaded from the official site.
  • The candidates should note that the Hall Tickets and Rank Cards will not be sent by post.
  • Hall Ticket is not transferable. Any tampering of Hall Ticket will automatically lead to the disqualification of the candidate from appearing at the test.
