Education during the pandemic was difficult, but online education played a vital role to revive the doomed education. Though there were a lot of issues concerning the poor infrastructure in India, recently a study proved that online education must be continued when the pandemic is over. A team of 15 teachers led by two associate professors from the Indian Institute of Teacher Education was surveying the online education system from July 2020 for almost five months.
According to the report, this mode of education needs to become the “new normal” to students, teachers, and parents. The report also showed that during the hard times of pandemic online education largely helped in the studies of lower primary and pre-primary sections. Prof Nishant Joshi, a member of the IITE’s education department stated that there should be a blend of both online and offline education. And the importance and positive aspects of online education need to be conveyed to parents and students.
The team studied almost 300 students, parents, and teachers and came to the conclusion that though there were a lot of new ideas of teaching invented during the pandemic, we can not ignore the significance of the online mode of education.
Teachers need to be trained for this structure and also the lack of infrastructure in this sector should also be improved by the government. The members also suggested making the online education activity-based so that the attention of the students will be drawn towards it. They also added that an online classroom also needs to be interactive just like the physical classroom. Otherwise, a part of the students will feel left out which is not expected.
